Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions
1. Start by prepping your onions: peel and slice them. Next, treat your cilantro with care: wash, dry, and thin it.
2. Now, let's turn our attention to the star of the show: the beef! Cut it into strips and nestle it into a deep dish.
3. Add some flavor to the mix: scatter the sliced onions over the beef, drizzle with a tablespoon of soy sauce and peanut oil, add a dash of water, sprinkle some pepper and cornstarch, and stir until everything is well combined. Let this flavorful concoction marinate for 20 minutes in the fridge.
4. While our beef is soaking up all those delicious flavors, let's cook our rice according to the instructions on the packet.
5. Simultaneously, heat up two tablespoons of oil in a wok or a large skillet, and sauté the beef in small batches for 2 minutes.
6. Once done, remove the meat from the wok, add a tablespoon of oil, and sauté the onions for about 5 minutes. Now, pour in that marinade juice we saved earlier and let it come to a boil.
7. Add the meat back in, season with salt and pepper and let it cook for another 2 minutes.
8. Time to assemble! Heap the rice into bowls, top with the mouthwatering beef and onions. Drizzle with the sauce and garnish with sprigs of cilantro.
Voila! Serve hot and get ready to enjoy a plate of pure deliciousness. Bon appétit, folks!
