1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the meat is browned and the onion is tender. Drain off excess fat.
2. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, water, sugar, basil, salt, fennel seeds, pepper, and parsley. Simmer, covered, for about 1 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.
3. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
4. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
5. In a bowl, mix the ricotta cheese and egg until well blended.
6. To assemble the lasagna, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Layer with 4 noodles, half of the ricotta cheese mixture, a third of the mozzarella cheese, and a third of the Parmesan cheese. Repeat layers, ending with the meat sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese on top.
7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until the lasagna is bubbly and cheese is melted and golden brown.
8. Let the lasagna stand for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy your delicious cheesy meat lasagna! 😋
